#5 Kansas survived a scare and beat Nebraska 64 to 54 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference Tournament. Kansas played there worst half of basketball of the season in the first half scoring only 22 points. Coach Bill Self thinks the poor half of basketball can help prepare his team for the tournament saying "I told our guys that we needed this. We needed to be behind in the first half," Self said. "You don't ever like it when your team doesn't perform. But how many teams have done well in the NCAA Tournament that haven't been behind?". Whatever Self told his team at halftime worked because Kansas came out fired up in the second half and had a 14-4 run to start the half led by Brandon Rush. Kansas is one of a couple of teams likely playing for one undecided number 1 seed in the tournament, there main competition for that seed is likely Tennessee and Duke.
