March Madness and Number 1 Seeds - UCLA, Kansas, Memphis, North Carolina

The number 1 seeds for March Madness are a combined 37 and 6 against the other teams in the NCAA Tournament. UCLA has played the most games against teams in the tournament and is 14-2, North Carolina is and impressive 9-1, Memphis is 6-1, and Kansas is 8-2.

None of the number 1 seeds can face a team they lost to in the regular season until the Final Four. UCLA's losses to tournament teams were to rival USC the # 6 seed in the Midwest and the # 2 seed in the South Region Texas. North Carolina lost to rival Duke the # 2 seed in the West. Kansas lost to rival Kansas State the # 11 seed in the Midwest and Texas the #2 seed in the South. Memphis lost to Tennessee the # 2 seed in the East Region

On UCLA being ready to make a run in the 2008 Men's NCAA Tournament coach Howland said "I just think our team has played the toughest schedule," "Playing that many teams in the tournament, night in, night out, we have played the toughest schedule however you want to look at it."
