March Madness Upset, Michigan over Clemson - South Region|Recap,Score

Michigan (#7) will continue on with their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 11 years after they defeated Clemson (#10) by a score of 62-59 in their South Region matchup. The key to the game for Michigan was their zone defense that gave Clemson constant fits as they had an awful shooting day at 32.3% overall and 22.7% from beyond the arc. In contrast Michigan did damage with the three point shot with a 38.3% shooting percentage. Michigan guard Manny Harris went 3 of 6 on threes as part of his game leading 23 points. Harris's backcourt mate freshman Stu Douglas added 12 points as Michigan's second leading scorer. Trevor Booker led Clemson with 18 points.

This is the first win for Michigan in the NCAA Tournament since thief defeat of Davidson in 1998, who would have thought it had been so long? Clemson last year was in Michagan's position of making the Big Dance for the first time in a long time and this year looked to avenge their disappointing loss to 12th seeded Villanova. It was hoped that the experience from last year would get them past and inexperienced Michigan team.

While this game is a mild upset it is not a shocker as Clemson didn't look to be playing its best ball late in the year and this loss means they lost 4 of 5 to finish their season. Michigan will now play the winner of Oklahoma or Morgan State on Saturday.
