March Madness 2010 Number 4 Seed Update: Gonzaga

We decided to keep Gonzaga in the top 4 seeds despite their shocking upset loss to San Francisco and our faith was rewarded as Gonzaga won 76-49 over Portland in Spokane. Gonzaga like Portland got off to a rough start in this game missing quite a few shots but hit the gas and went on a 20-2 run and cruised from there. Portland is currently third in the conference and a solid team that was expected to challenge Gonzaga for the conference title. Shockingly Gonzaga is currently tied for the conference lead with Saint Mary's with both teams at 7-1, Gonzaga will take them on in two games after they travel to Memphis. Gonzaga did however already give Saint Mary's their only loss a 89-82 defeat at St. Mary's. Gonzaga has a good team this year but they don't deserve higher than a 4 seed as they proved they couldn't hang with the big boys with losses to Duke and Michigan State. Gonzaga did beat Wisconsin on a neutral court in Hawaii but Wisconsin was still finding out what they had to do to win at that very early point of the season, you could also argue that Gonzaga had a lot less of a distance to travel to that game and probably less distractions. You all should have heard about Gonzaga's star player senior guard Matt Bouldin after his 4 years of excellent play but you may not know just how good their freshman forward from Germany Elias Harris is, we have the answer he is very good and watch out for him in the tournament. Harris is currently averaging 16 points for game and is capable of busting loose for over 30 like he did in Gonzaga's win over St. Mary's.
