March Madness 2010: 11 Washington - 6 Marquette Game Update

March Madness 2010 Game Update
11 Washington - 6 Marquette
East Regional
Final score Marquette 89 Washington 78
(latest update is at the bottom of the article)
At the half it is 43 to 42 Marquette as many have expected this game is closely played, we have Washington marked down for the upset. Washington sophomore guard Isiah Thomas as expected had a big first half with 17 points on 6 of 8 shooting. The Huskies had 6 blocks otherwise the half was pretty even. Torrid shooting or bad defense was the name of the game for both teams as they both shot over 50% from the floor and beyond the arc.
Marquette has gotten off to a quick start in the half and is now up a game high 8 at 52 to 44.
Marquette extended the lead out to 60 to 45 but Washington has climbed back to 62 to 54 with some nice defense.
This game is really starting to turn into a great one with Washington upping the defense and hitting a big three but Marquette coming right back with some clutch shots, 66 to 63 Marquette.
Really good game going on now tied at 74, just great intensity.
They trade some free throws and it is tied at 78.
Great defense by Washington and they get a chance at the lead at the minute mark.
Washington can hold for the last shot after a missed three and Poindexter drives and scores on a scoop shot for the lead with 1.7 seconds left.
Marquette will get a shot for the win, it will be tough to take a two point shot with this much time left.
The last second heave is off for Marquette from midcourt and that was a great game for the last ten minutes.
Washington definitely bought the PAC 10 some respect with that hard fought win, nice defense.
