March Madness 2010 Freshman Watch

March Madness 2010
Freshman Watch

This time of year freshman have gone through a whole season including conference tournaments and have the experience they need to have a major impact on a teams March Madness chances of advancing. This isn't necessarily the best freshman class nationwide in recent years but there are still plenty that can have major impacts during March Madness 2010.

March Madness 2010 East Regional Freshman Watch:
John Wall,PG - Kentucky: Super quick point guard that helps Kentucky keep that up-tempo offense going, maybe the number 1 pick in the NBA draft.
DeMarcus Cousins,F - Kentucky: Very athletically gifted player, needs to avoid foul problems and negative emotions.
Ryan Evan,F - Wisconsin: A redshirt freshmen that doesn't start but could be the key to keeping Kentucky players in check if Wisconsin meets them in the Sweet Sixteen.
Deniz Kilicle,F - West Virginia: Suspended for 20 games by the NCAA provides good minutes off the bench.

March Madness 2010 Midwest Regional Freshman Watch:
Xavier Henry,G - Kansas: Collins runs the show but Henry has been the hottest player for Kansas of late, he can really stroke the three.
Jordan Williams,F - Maryland: Came on as the season progressed to give Maryland the height they needed, very solid rebounder.
Kawhi Leonard,F - San Diego State: Nearly averaged a double double as a freshmen, was a top 50 player out of high school.
Jerrell Benimon/Hollis Thompson,F - Georgetown: These two guys aren't the greatest two freshman players combining for 5.7 points a game but they are the only two bench players the Hoyas play and they are going to need them to step up a little.
Derrick Favors,F - Georgia Tech: Athletic player who has been playing better of late but has had trouble staying out of foul trouble, will be a lottery pick someday.

March Madness 2010 West Regional Freshman Watch:
Brandon Triche,G - Syracuse: Runs the offense for the Orange what more impact could he have.
Elias Harris,F - Gonzaga: The German is athletic and physical something the Bulldogs really need.
Michael Snaer,F - Florida State: Provides the scoring that Florida State was missing earlier in the season.
Isaiah Cannon,G - Murray State: Three point shooter off the bench and also defends well.
Travon Woodall,G - Pittsburgh: Provides good minutes off the bench and second on the team in assists.

March Madness 2010 South Regional Freshman Watch:
Mason Plumlee,F - Duke: Provides minutes off the bench spelling the all upperclassmen starting five.
Kelsey Barlow,G - Purdue: A solid defender that was forced into the starting lineup, also a good decision maker on offense.
Mouphtaou Yarou,C - Villanova: Provides the size Villanova needs to avoid matchup problems.
