The March Madness
2013 Prediction for the Wisconsin Badgers is going to be very different than
the one most had for them in December this season. The Badgers were left for
dead when the predictions came out before the season picked to finish 8th or
worse in the Big Ten based on little returning in talent and the loss of the
starting point guard before a game had been played. The Badgers up through
December played like a team with very limited talent that had coaching that
could coax them to a few wins. After December though a funny thing happened and
that is the talent started to show itself on the floor and the Badgers are now
a Dark Horse in the Big Dance.
The Wisconsin
Badgers have beaten Indiana this season twice decisively, Michigan, and Ohio
State when the big game is at hand they have played. In fact at one point the
Badgers looked like they might wrap up the regular season title but had
stunning let downs versus the likes of Minnesota and Purdue. The Badgers this
year are a very tough team to predict, they have very top notch defense taking
each and every team they face out of their comfort zone. The thought was that
defense was all this team has, however when they move the ball on offense their
offense is very good with multiple scoring threats. On a number of occasions
this season the Badgers have four players score in double digits due to their
balanced talented attack.
It seems this team
has really benefited from the offensive improvement of all players because they
didn't have a go to guy to rely on when the season started. In any given game
the Badgers can rely on Evans, Jackson, Brust, Decker, or Bergrenn to lead them
to a win and not a lot of teams have that. The oddity about this Badgers team
is how poor they shoot free throws with Evans now reduced to even jump shooting
them for better odds they at least touch the rim.
Our March Madness
Prediction for the Badgers is that they get to the Elite Eight, however there
the free throw shooting and lack of an always on offense brings them back to
reality.
Wisconsin due to their highly inconsistent shooting woes is a team that is about as likely to run the table as being upset in the first round. This team can put the clamps down on defense but no other but if you have already proven you can hold a top team in the low 50s and still loose you have major inconsistency issues.
